Bruce Marks, Managing Member of Marks & Sokolov, LLC, is invited to speak at the XIII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum held on May 19-21, 2025 – a major platform for dialogue among members of the legal, business, and political communities.

The annual international legal conference established in 2011 on the initiative of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has emerged as a foremost international platform for discussing a broad range of urgent questions confronting the contemporary international community of legal professionals.

Mr. Marks speaks in the session: «It is not parallel for us»: Parallel Proceedings in Multiple Jurisdictions” on May 19, 2025. Within this session, experts discuss topical issues arising under
conditions of multiple concurrent court proceedings, including:

  • Legal risks associated with the conduct of parallel or interconnected
    proceedings in different jurisdictions;
  • The principal approaches to resolving conflicts arising from
    jurisdictional competition between the courts of different states or
    tribunals;
  • International direct and indirect jurisdiction in the practice of
    Russian and foreign courts;
  • Specific aspects of international judicial cooperation in the
    consideration of parallel or interconnected cases.

Participants will also learn about the approaches being developed within the relevant working group on jurisdiction, established by the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
