JONES ACT AND MARITIME CLAIMS
Marks & Sokolov attorneys have handled maritime personal injury matters and property damage claims. Maritime work is an extremely hazardous occupation and maritime workers are too often victims of debilitating injuries. While not having typical workers’ compensation benefits when injured, a maritime worker is entitled to maintenance and cure benefits under the Jones Act and has the right to commence lawsuits and unseaworthiness claims against their employers for a host of damages. Our attorneys are also experienced with maritime liens and attachments under Supplemental Rule B.
SIGNIFICANT MATTERS INCLUDE:
- Recovered $265,000 under Jones Act for failure to treat injuries sustained by a commercial fisherman.
- $100,000 recovery for injured SCUBA diver.
- Obtained $675,000 Jones Act recovery for injured tug captain.
