Yulia Cherepanova’s practice focuses on Russian Law, international litigation and civil procedure. Yulia is a tech-savvy professional with substantial computer capabilities and manages document retrieval and organization, IT and e-discovery for the firm in cases involving large scale document productions. Prior to joining the firm, Yulia worked at the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation at the Department for Organization of Visa and Registration Proceedings in Moscow. While there, she assisted foreign clients with registration in the Russian Federation as well as provided legal counsel to domestic companies and government organizations, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Internal Affairs, and the Presidential Executive Office on various provisions of Russian Immigration legislation. Previously, in the Moscow office of a Russian law firm advising individuals on finance and lending matters. She holds an M.A. in law from the International University of Environmental and Political Science in Moscow. She is fluent in Russian and English.
Experience
Yulia’s assisted in the following matters:
- Representation pertaining to 28 U.S.C. §1782 discovery proceedings in the United States in aid of foreign proceedings
- Canadian company’s dispute over Russian oil assets. The appellate court granted client’s appeal of the dismissal of the case on the grounds of forum non conveniens
- Obtaining a US court order granting recognition and relief under US Bankruptcy Code Chapter 15 in aid of insolvency procedures commenced in Russia;
- Preparation of expert opinions on various issues of Russian law
- Representation of plaintiff shareholders in a dispute over the management of the world’s largest ferroalloy plant.
